FAQs

  • A. The centre offers a range of medical services, including general practice (GP) services, women's health checks, sexual health services, contraception advice, pregnancy care, menopause management, cervical screening, STI checks, breast examinations, and chronic disease management. They also provide specialist referrals when necessary.

  • A. Appointments can be booked by calling the centre at (02) 9560 3011.

  • A. The centre has a mixed model of billing and different services attract different fees.  For GP and Nurse clinics bring your valid Medicare card, and if applicable also bring your valid Pensioner Card, Health Care Card or Full time Student Card.  Many women will remain eligible for bulk billing if they meet the below criteria:

    • Holders of a Centrelink Health Care Card, or Pensioner Concession Card

    • Full time domestic students (procedures incur an additional fee)

    • Women escaping domestic and/or family violence

    • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women

    • Those under 16 years of age

    • Women experiencing homelessness

    • Women aged 75 years and over

  • A. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. It is closed on weekends and public holidays. For specific holidays and any changes to these hours, it's best to check the website or call the centre.

  • A. The centre provides general counselling, domestic violence support, sexual assault counselling, and mental health services. Sessions can be booked by calling the centre.

  • A. Yes, the centre runs various support groups and workshops, including those focused on mental health, well-being and social support. These groups and workshops are designed to provide support, education, and a sense of community. Schedules and details are available on the website or by contacting the centre directly.

  • A. The centre hosts community talks and educational programs on women's health topics. Information on upcoming events can be found on their website or by contacting the centre. These programs aim to raise awareness and provide education on various health issues.

  • A. Generally, having a Medicare card qualifies women for free services. Those without a Medicare card may incur a fee. The centre also offers some services at reduced costs for low-income women and those with a Health Care Card.

  • A. Health promotion and outreach programs are part of the centre’s services. These programs focus on education, prevention, and community engagement, addressing issues such as sexual health, mental health, and chronic disease prevention.

  • A. Bring your Medicare card, any relevant medical records, and identification. If applicable, bring a Health Care Card or other concession cards. This ensures that you receive the appropriate care and that any necessary paperwork can be completed.

  • A. Referrals to specialists can be obtained through a consultation with one of the centre’s GPs. During the consultation, the GP will assess your needs and provide the necessary referral for specialist care if required.

  • A. Yes, the centre offers services tailored for CALD communities, including translation services and culturally sensitive health education. These services aim to ensure that all women receive appropriate and effective care regardless of their cultural background.

  • A. Yes, online and telephone consultations are available for certain services. This provides flexibility for women who may not be able to visit the centre in person. Contact the centre to arrange a remote consultation.

  • A. Mental health support includes counselling, mental health assessments, and referrals to psychiatric services as needed. The centre also offers support groups and workshops focused on mental health and well-being.

  • A. For urgent medical help outside operating hours, contact emergency services by calling 000 or visit the nearest hospital emergency department. For After Hours care phone Sydney Medical Service Home GP – (02) 8724 6300.

  • A. Yes, the centre offers support and management plans for chronic health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and asthma. These services aim to help women manage their conditions effectively and improve their quality of life.

  • A. Services are primarily available to women with a Medicare card. Some services may be available to non-Medicare cardholders for a fee. Specific eligibility criteria may apply to certain programs and services.

  • A. The centre provides comprehensive pregnancy options, including counselling, prenatal care, and support for termination if needed. They offer a non-judgmental and supportive environment for women to explore their options and receive the care they need.

  • A. Various group programs and workshops are available, focusing on topics such as mental health, fitness, and well-being. These programs provide education, support, and a sense of community for participants.

  • A. Yes, fitness and wellness programs, including yoga, meditation, art therapy and Nia dance movement are offered regularly. These programs aim to promote physical health and mental well-being.

If you have a complaint about the service you’ve received, please phone to speak with the manager Ses on 9560 3011 or email her using the form below. In order for your complaint to be investigated you may be asked to put the details in writing.

The manager investigates complaints and areas for improvement. Your views, including complaints, are an important part of our learning and help us review our processes and maintain the best environment possible for health and wellbeing.
